Accessible website - Notary Scheiber

Accessibility statement for the Notary Scheiber website

We strive to make our website accessible in accordance with the Accessibility Act, as amended, implementing the European Accessibility Directive (EU) RL 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements of products and services. This accessibility statement applies to https://scheiber.law/

Note: This accessibility statement refers exclusively to our website. It does not make any statement about the structural accessibility of our premises.

Status of compliance with the requirements

This website is partially compliant with conformance level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and the European standard EN 301 549. The known limitations and exemptions are listed below.

Measures implemented

The website was technically revised in October 2026. In particular:

  • every page declares its language (German or English), offers a “Skip to content” link at the top and has a consistent structure with header, navigation, main content and footer;
  • text colours meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text), and links and buttons have a visible focus indicator, including on dark backgrounds;
  • informative images and image links have text alternatives or accessible names; purely decorative elements are hidden from screen readers;
  • the menu, the contact button and the privacy settings can be operated with the keyboard (Escape closes the menu and returns focus to the menu button);
  • animations and videos have no sound, can be paused and do not start automatically when “reduce motion” is set in the operating system;
  • content can be used without horizontal scrolling at a width of 320 CSS pixels;
  • the enquiry form has visible labels, autocomplete for name and email address and a status message that is announced by screen readers.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not yet fully accessible or has not yet been fully tested, for the following reasons:

a) Non-compliance with the accessibility requirements

  • 1.3.1 / 2.4.6 – Part of the content (in particular the news archive and older articles) was taken over from the previous website. The structure and heading hierarchy of these texts do not always reflect the structure of the content correctly.
  • 3.3.1 / 3.3.3 – Error messages in the enquiry form (missing required fields, invalid email address) are provided by the browser; there are currently no additional, more detailed instructions for correcting errors.
  • Links that open a new window or tab (such as source references) are not consistently marked as such.
  • The website was tested automatically and with the keyboard. Testing with screen readers (e.g. NVDA, VoiceOver) is still pending, so success criteria that can only be checked manually have not been fully assessed.

b) Content that does not fall within the scope of the applicable legislation

The website contains older documents (PDF files from 2020 and 2021) and content that may not be fully accessible. As these were published before 28 June 2025, they are exempt from the Accessibility Act and no comprehensive changes are currently planned for them.

The website contains or links to documents and content from third-party providers that are neither developed, financed nor controlled by us (e.g. Google Maps for directions to our offices). No statement can be made regarding the compatibility of this third-party content with the accessibility regulations, and it is therefore also exempt from the requirements of the Accessibility Act.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was created on 21 May 2025 and updated on 26 October 2026. Compliance was assessed by way of a self-assessment against WCAG 2.2 level AA: an automated test of all 158 pages of the website with axe-core 4.14 (rules for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, levels A and AA) in Google Chrome, supplemented by tests of keyboard operation, focus visibility and display at a width of 320 CSS pixels. Automated tests only cover some of the success criteria.
